Family Chiropractor, Pediatric Chiropractor in Williamsburg and Richmond

At Harmonized Neurology, we believe true healing is a journey back to who you were always meant to be. Your nervous system holds the blueprint for your health, your resilience, and your joy — and no two blueprints are the same. Dr. Rhonda Huff brings decades of experience and a visionary approach to care, blending state-of-the-art technology, gentle low- or no-force chiropractic, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, corrective exercise, nutrition, and mind-body therapies that awaken the body’s natural healing wisdom. Every adjustment, every scan, every moment of care is thoughtfully designed to help you and your family reconnect, regulate, and rise into your fullest potential — from the inside out and in the right order.

Because true healing follows a sequence —  the nervous system must come first. When the brain and body aren’t clearly communicating, higher-level therapies like movement training, gut protocols,, or behavioral support often miss the mark. That’s why we always begin with neurologically focused chiropractic care: to restore balance and function to the central and autonomic nervous systems. Once that foundation is solid, everything else works better. When we honor the body’s natural healing hierarchy, transformation becomes not only possible — it becomes sustainable.

Below, you’ll find an overview of the specialized techniques and therapies we use to restore balance, improve function, and elevate well-being at every stage of life. Family chiropractor and pediatric chiropractor in Williamsburg near Richmond and Newport News.

TRT (Torque Release Technique)

  • Torque Release Technique (TRT) is a precise, specific, and gentle chiropractic method that delivers consistent, high-speed adjustments without any twisting, cracking, or popping.
  • It utilizes the Integrator™, the only FDA-approved chiropractic instrument, designed to replicate the thrust and recoil of traditional Toggle Recoil adjustments with unmatched accuracy—delivering input at a speed of 1/10,000th of a second.
  • TRT integrates the best of classical chiropractic principles, quantum physics, and the body-mind connection, making it the first truly neurologically-based chiropractic system.
  • It stands apart as the only chiropractic technique developed through blinded, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trials, making it one of the most scientifically researched and validated techniques in the profession as a family chiropractor in Williamsburg.

Network Spinal (Network Spinal Analysis, NSA)

  • Network Spinal (NS) is a gentle, organized, and highly specific chiropractic approach that enhances communication between the brain and body without any twisting, cracking, or popping. Making it perfect for our pediatric chiropractor in Williamsburg!
  • It utilizes precise, light touches—primarily in the upper neck and sacral regions—to help the nervous system unwind stored tension and trauma, restoring natural flow and function. These contacts cue the body to release deep-seated emotional and physical stress patterns stored in muscles and fascia, leading to greater ease and adaptability.
  • Rather than forcing structural change, NS works with the body's available energy, amplifying its innate self-healing strategies for long-term transformation.
  • Scientific research, including surface EMG studies, has documented measurable changes in brain and spinal nerve activity during Network Spinal sessions, confirming its impact on neurological function and overall well-being.

Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT)

  • Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) is a comprehensive chiropractic approach that focuses on identifying and correcting patterns of imbalance throughout the entire body, rather than just isolated misalignments in specific joints or regions.
  • It recognizes that structural, neurological, and dural tension patterns influence overall function, often originating from the relationship between the sacrum and the occiput. By assessing and addressing these global patterns—whether through pelvic blocking, cranial work, or specific spinal adjustments—SOT helps restore balance to the body's interconnected systems.
  • This method is particularly effective for optimizing cerebrospinal fluid flow, reducing tension in the dura mater, and improving neurological communication, making it a powerful tool for addressing complex, chronic conditions and enhancing overall well-being. This is critical for our practice as a neurology chiropractor and family chiropractor in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Thompson Technique

  •  Thompson Drop Table adjustments use a specialized chiropractic table with segmented sections that lift slightly and then drop a short distance when a thrust is applied. This technique allows for high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) adjustments while still avoiding the twisting, popping, or cracking often associated with traditional manual adjustments.
  • The neurological input comes from the speed (high velocity) of the thrust, which stimulates mechanoreceptors in the joints and nervous system more effectively than slower adjustments. However, because the drop mechanism absorbs much of the force, the actual movement (low amplitude) is minimal, making it a gentle yet effective technique.
  • This is especially useful when a patient needs a greater neurological stimulus for recalibration. Important as a pediatric chiropractor.

Neurofunction Tests (NeuroScans)

Three Scans to Assess Nervous System Function

These three scans provide valid, reliable, and reproducible measurements of nervous system function, offering objective insights into how well the body adapts to stress and heals. By tracking progress over time, they ensure that family chiropractor care is making measurable improvements in neurological health.

  1. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Scan
The HRV scan measures the adaptability and flexibility of the nervous system—key indicators of neurological well-being. Variability in heart rate reflects the body's ability to shift between sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) states. A balanced HRV indicates a well-functioning nervous system, while a stuck pattern may reveal chronic stress, poor adaptability, and increased susceptibility to health challenges. Because flexibility is the foundation of well-being—affecting digestion, immune function, and emotional regulation—HRV is one of the most powerful markers of overall health.
  2. NeuroThermal Scan
The NeuroThermal scan assesses how well the autonomic nervous system (ANS) regulates vital functions such as digestion, immunity, and hormonal balance. By detecting temperature variations along the spine, this scan identifies localized impacts of subluxation and dysautonomia—nervous system dysfunction that may contribute to issues like colic, reflux, constipation, chronic ear infections, allergies, adrenal fatigue, and sleep disturbances. When these systems are out of balance, the body struggles to maintain proper function, leading to chronic health challenges. The NeuroThermal scan helps pinpoint where neurological interference is occurring, allowing for targeted chiropractic care to restore function.
  3. NeuroSpinal EMG (sEMG) Scan
The sEMG scan evaluates neuromotor tone and efficiency, making it an essential tool for understanding how trapped tension, fatigue, and imbalance impact brain function. This scan is especially valuable for children and adults facing challenges like Autism, Sensory Processing Disorders, ADHD, and Anxiety, as these conditions are often rooted in dysregulated motor and nervous system tone. Because motor function directly influences brain development, identifying neuromuscular dysfunction early is critical for optimizing growth, learning, and emotional regulation.

The sEMG scan identifies three key neurological patterns:

  • Raging Bull – A nervous system stuck in overdrive, leading to hyperactivity, impulsivity, anxiety, and sleep disturbances.
  • Drunken Bull – A nervous system struggling with coordination, focus, reading comprehension, and communication difficulties.
  • Raging Drunken Bull – A combination of both patterns, often found in long-standing nervous system dysfunction, especially in children with significant developmental challenges.

Since the nervous system is highly adaptable, positive changes are always possible. While adults may take longer to see progress, children often experience rapid improvements due to the plasticity of their developing nervous systems. However, this also means that neuromuscular dysfunction left unaddressed can disrupt development for years, underscoring the importance of neurologically-focused chiropractic care for children.

Breaking Down the INSiGHT EMG Scoring System

  • Total Energy Score – Measures overall nervous system activity; high scores suggest sympathetic dominance (often seen in "Raging Bull" cases).
  • Pattern Score – Reflects neurological tone; lower scores indicate postural fatigue, emotional dysregulation, and weak core stability.
  • Symmetry Score – Assesses right vs. left balance in the neurospinal system, which is essential for brain function, coordination, and motor control.

These scans provide powerful, objective measures of nervous system function, ensuring that care is both targeted and trackable, leading to profound improvements in health, development, and overall well-being.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)

  • Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is a cutting-edge therapy that uses low-level electrical currents to target specific tissues and systems in the body. By applying precise frequencies, FSM enhances cellular communication, reduces inflammation, improves circulation, and accelerates healing at the neurological and cellular levels. Unlike traditional electrical stimulation, FSM works at a micro-amperage level, which aligns with the body's natural electrical currents, making it both effective and gentle, perfect for a family chiropractor. It is particularly beneficial for nervous system regulation, chronic pain, injuries, and conditions like MCAS, fibromyalgia, and post-concussive symptoms.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a method of understanding and influencing human behavior by examining the connection between neurological processes, language, and learned behaviors. It operates on the idea that our thoughts, words, and actions create patterns that shape our experiences. By identifying and modifying these patterns, NLP can help individuals overcome mental and emotional barriers, improve communication, and rewire their subconscious responses. It’s commonly used for personal development, mindset shifts, and even pain management by changing the way the brain processes sensory input. This is effective as a family chiropractor and especially pediatric chiropractor in Williamsburg near Richmond and Newport News.
